It won’t come as a surprise that the design of the lamps from the HEKTAR series nods to the look of industrial lighting. It’s actually inspired by old lamps from places like factories and theatres, so it combines hard-working practicality with star-quality design.

Mission: Bedroom
Mission: Bedroom

Dark or bright, big or small, set up in a living room or in the attic – whatever your bedroom is, with musts like a mattress and bed linen to helpers like curtains and a nightstand, you can tailor-make a space so energising you’ll skip that morning coffee. However, if you feel that your bedroom could be a little bit better, the upcoming spring is a great time for change.

“My home with IKEA” for the love of loving parents

This weeks adventure is the transformation of a tiny bedroom in the home of a new family: parents Santa un Ilmārs, their baby boy Frederiks and Bonny, the cat. The room needed a professional touch in making it a relaxing hideaway and a love nest for the parents only. IKEA interior designer Renāte is up for the challenge of a cosy very-small-space-living.

So many needs, just one room: makeover in a small bedroom
So many needs, just one room: makeover in a small bedroom

It is quite easy to decorate spacious rooms as there, the only limit is the fantasy. But to decorate a small space so it would be comfortable? It is a much more difficult task. "Home Idea with IKEA" visits a family of six and the room awaiting makeover is a bedroom for the smallest of three children and his mother. IKEA Interior Designer Kristīne already mastered a small space challenge in the last season and is not afraid to wage it again!

Small scale, big makeover
Small scale, big makeover

Welcome to the fifth makeover in this season of "Home idea with IKEA"! They say it's best to prepare for winter in summer, but this time, it will be the other way round – awaiting the makeover in the middle of winter, there is a miniature summerhouse. This summer residence belongs to a small family of three. A spontaneous purchase at first, this has become a favourite spot in summer. Hosts Ildze and Kaspars like their "dwarf house" a lot but they feel the lack of ideas as for how to make the interior more functional and beautiful. This is where the IKEA Interior Designers should step in.

Free-range family: a countryside home for a big family

This big-city crew traded the concrete jungle for a calmer, fresher life in the countryside. With nature as their next-door neighbour, their safe and welcoming country home is where their three small children have the freedom to learn, play and thrive. And just be kids!

Blended: a combined household with space for a big family
Blended: a combined household with space for a big family

They met, they fell in love and after some time, they decided to blend their lives, their families and their home. Together with their four children and much-loved hound, they’ve created a place that is distinctly their own, where there is much exploring to be done, inside and outdoors – together and alone.

Sanctuaries to recharge yourself across the home
Sanctuaries to recharge yourself across the home

We’re social creatures, but just as important as time with others, is time alone. Of course, this looks different for each person, so this family of six have created a home where everyone can enjoy time by themselves to relax and recharge in their singular way.

Bedrooms for some alone time
Bedrooms for some alone time

We all need the space to explore our own interests. For some people, that means getting out into the world, but even in a family home, environments can be created that allow individuals to find their own flow. In this apartment, the bedrooms have been designed for just that.
