What’s so Swedish about meatballs?

Meatballs with mashed potatoes, lingonberry jam and green peas – it is a truly Swedish dish. First mentioned in a cookbook by Kajsa Warg in 1754 and served at IKEA since 1985, meatballs are part of both everyday meals and special occasion menus. On 23 August people in Sweden celebrate Meatball Day. Let's join them and celebrate together!

Swedish Meatball Day

Bring your family and friends to celebrate Swedish Meatball Day at IKEA on 23 August. Have a break, taste Selection of meatballs, play games and buy ball dishes for special prices. We have balls for everyone – from traditional and chicken balls to veggie and plant balls.
From 12:00 to 17:00 children can have fun together with our beloved big Meatball and other mascots in various ball games, draw a Swedish buffet table with many, many meatballs, and take part in other fun activities. We will take care of special offers and a splendid day! See you on the Meatball Day!
