Work is often referred to as the second home and the colleagues – as the second family. Therefore, yourwork space also deserves to be dressed up for Christmas so that both co-workers and visitors can enjoy the festive mood. This year, IKEA Business decided to bring the Christmas vibe to 3 different businesses.
IKEA Business Interior Designers Linda Ribaka-Orlova and Auce Graudiņa are sure that the premises of a business are a reflection of its identity and Christmas is the time when warmth and personality can be shown. Decorating the workplace together can also be a great bonding opportunity for the whole team that makes everybody think outside the box and offers a way to forget the everyday work for a little while.
A joy for coworkers and visitors
Riga Maternity Hospital will enjoy the festive makeovers on their 75th anniversary. Chairwoman of the board Sandra Markova admits that this makes the joy over the luck in the competition even greater. At the Maternity Hospital every year an average of 6000 deliveries are conducted, which is roughly a third of all the deliveries in the country. Still, the reception area lacks warmth and personality. IKEA Business Interior Designers went to work, planning the decorations so as to make the space much more cosy and festive so it could be enjoyed by the co-workers of the Hospital, visitors and, of course, the happy new parents of tiny bundles of joy.
A place for happy moments
IKEA Business Interior Designers tell about the project: "First of all, we planned a photo corner with our iconic STRANDMON armchair. There, both co-workers and visitors can take beautiful pictures to commemorate their happy moment. Usually new parents take pictures at the plaque outside, with the Hospital name on it, but the plaque is placed quite high and it is not very easy. A cosy photo corner is a great solution and it can be re-decorated according to different seasons. As the reception area is quite big, we hat plenty of space for a fairy-tale forest of Christmas trees, and the big windows were asking for some STRÅLA stars and beautifully decorated windowsills. We have thought about small brothers and sisters too: they can sit and draw something at the MAMMUT table. The Christmas vibe brought about by the trees is enhanced by the lovely little gnomes from the VINTERFINT series.
A cafe Santa would visit
Cafe "Mežavējš" can be found by the motorway to Liepāja, a couple of kilometres behind Saldus. It has been a family business since 1989. The owner Stella Štāla admits that it would not have been possible to plan the makeover themselves and that the IKEA Business Interior Designers have managed to think about everything, up until the tiniest details.
"The expectation of this project was to present owner, staff and visitors an ultimate Christmas festive feeling! That's why used decor was in green, white, and red tones which works perfectly with brick walls and timber all around the area creating this cozy atmosphere," say the Designers.
How to decorate a cafe
"Of course, it was important to add LED lights as well, as lightning creates atmosphere. That is why there are lights located on the windows, tables and bar. These tiny LED lights operate with rechargeable batteries, so they can be usen anywhere, even if there are no power outlets. We decorated the windows with STRÅLA stars. They are great to create a cosy feeling both for those passing by and for the visitors," says B2B interior designer.
The owner says the makeover is a great Christmas gift and is sure this will help to attract visitors that had diminished during the pandemy, threatening the existence of the business.
An office to enjoy
Biedrības "Zeme zied" koprades telpa "CoLabora Lielvārde" atrodas blakus Lielvārdes dzelzceļa stacijai un ir atvērta tipa biroja telpa, kur pieejamas bezmaksas darba vietas un kur var organizēt pasākumus un nodarbības. Tās vadītāja Linda Cīrule atzīst, ka vēlas telpu atdzīvināt pēc ieilgušā, pandēmijas radītā sastinguma perioda un uz svētkiem padarīt kopstrādes telpu skaistāku, sapostāku, līksmāku, lai telpa kā magnēts ap sevi pulcētu arvien vairāk strādājošo.
Lighting for good mood
"We used really a lot of lighting here, especially the STRÅLA stars as they have the power to lift the mood immediately and to bring about a festive feeling. Even better, they are very thrifty as well! One STRÅLA star with a SOLHETTA LED bulb would use just 1,31 kWh in a month, if it's used 24/7. Depending on the provider, that's about 30-45 cents. The festive mood is further enhanced by decorations on tables and, of course, a Christmas tree with decorative presents under it," says IKEA B2B designer.
