Order and cosiness in winter
Order and cosiness are meant to go hand in hand
The more time we spend at home, the more important the surroundings are. Sometimes people perceive order and cosiness as two different things – order being something stiff and cosiness being a bit messy and careless. Actually, order and cosiness are not that contrasting at all and they do go hand in hand. A home that does not annoy and return to with pleasure is a win. Cosiness does mean clothes or dishware all over the place. We can use candles, textiles, scents, personal belongings, pictures in frames and other items to create cosy atmosphere. However, keep in mind that the mentioned items will look much better in an orderly place.
Mission of the order
The goal is to minimize the time spent for doing the chores and cleaning. One of the approaches is to keep surfaces void, especially in bathroom and kitchen, and devote a special place for each item. You can use baskets and trays to group things and keep them on the table or chest of drawers. Reducing the number of things is key to success therefore putting away non-seasonal items is a practice to consider, at least in our climatic conditions.
Order in the wardrobe
Take winter clothes – both outwear and sweaters and dresses – out of boxes and decide whether you want to wear them right away. Before you put clothes in the wardrobe, it is better to inspect their condition, iron and clean if necessary. Chose a hanger that suits each piece: for coats and outwear pick a wider one, for dresses and blouses – a soft one, for trousers and skirts – with pegs. It is not recommended to keep sweaters hung – folding and keeping them horizontal is a better option.
Boxes to store non-seasonal items
It is important to have shallow and wide boxes so that you can see the content from above. Then it is not only easier to find what you are looking for, but also simple to add things. Not everything has to be stored in boxes, for example dresses are better off in clothes cover and hung.
Cosiness and accessories
Keep in minds that you don’t have to display everything you own! Decorations and accessories, just like other things, should be grouped in boxes or baskets. Remove plastic packaging from candles and put them in boxes. Candle holders, essential oils and other items that go with this category can be kept in that very box. Group several matching items on trays or round place mats and get even a better result – cosiness and order combined.
