The Children's Hospital Foundation team works a lot with people on a daily basis and there are many projects where several people need to be consulted. The current office with very limited work space has therefore become unwieldy and the team would like more space for productive work, meetings with families and also a small kitchenette where they can have lunch and coffee.
Before
The Children's Hospital Foundation workspace is bright and spacious, but with a large team, it often feels cramped. The team envisions a practical layout with multiple workstations, ample storage for documents and essentials, and a dedicated meeting area for hosting visitors and holding discussions. They also aim to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, ensuring that families feel welcomed and understood upon arrival.
After
IKEA interior designer Alla chose to retain the room’s existing layout, with workstations positioned along the window. The primary palette features timeless black and white, complemented by lively accents of yellow and green. To balance the elongated space, the designer strategically placed vibrant green curtains and armchairs against the shorter walls, creating a more proportional feel.The updated workstations are designed to accommodate more people, enhancing functionality, while multiple overhead luminaires ensure excellent lighting for productive work.

A comfortable corner for meetings and relaxation
To create distinct zones within the space, the designer opted for a contrasting arrangement for the seating and meeting area, visually setting it apart from the rest of the room. Soft, vibrant green armchairs paired with a matching carpet and bamboo lamps lend the corner a warm and inviting ambiance, almost like a room within a room. This cosy nook is perfect for meetings with visitors, casual chats with colleagues, or simply enjoying a quiet coffee break.
A spacious storage solution
A generously sized combination of cupboards and shelving lines the wall behind the workstations, offering ample storage for all work essentials. A long-awaited addition, a discreetly concealed small fridge, has also been incorporated into the design. The mix of closed and open compartments not only adds functionality but also creates a visually lighter look, with an appealing interplay of black and white elements.
