Personal yet business-like: a fresh interior for a dynamic enterprise

When you believe in what you do, there is nothing that is not possible. Seven years ago, Elīna had a dream. Her dream was to make fresh, seasonal and local products available for those busy city-dwellers. For those, who do not have the time to find the wonderful hidden gems of our countryside. And so svaigi.lv was born. Elīna has always wanted the interior of her business to show its personality, but there was always something in the way. Now, as her business turns seven years old, she has decided that the time is ripe for change. Will IKEA Interior Designer Linda manage to catch the vibe of this business?

Before: a walk-through + a kitchenette

This time, it is not just one, but two rooms waiting for a makeover! Two adjoining spaces are in need of a fresh start: a walk-through storage space and a minute kitchen. Elīna admits the storage is just a space for everything that fits nowhere else and the kitchen is just a basic addition. Both spaces need to be organized and re-organized to become the face of the enterprise and an organized place for meeting with suppliers.

After: a business interior that feels like home

The cool and impersonal interior has been replaced by warm, vibrant shades of moss green, mint and natural wood, sand and linen. Linda has chosen to paint even the doors in the same shade like the walls and advises to use this trick to create a more unified interior, if there are already many other details. The deep green colour acts as an impressive background for the natural shades of the carpet, ceiling lights and armchairs, while some mint green chairs around the dining table create a subtle and modern contrast.

A different angle makes a lot of difference

The tiny kitchen has been converted into a cosy nook with a few tricks. First of all, Linda has changed the layout to make it more practical. She advises never to cover the heating elements like it was here as this limits the heat distributed in the room and is thus not effective. Secondly, a couple of chairs have been added to have a small place to drink a cup of coffee in peace or to have a cosy lunch break.
 

Tips for comfort in a small kitchen

Unless the interior is completely minimal, the most practical storage solution for kitchen is to have both open and closed shelves. The open shelves are perfect for grab'n'go everyday things like cups and bowls while the closed storage is good for items used less often as well as for foodstuffs that could create an unorderly overall impression. Comfort during meetings

Even in business, comfort is important. This dining nook with soft chairs is modern and functional, offering the best comfort for shorter and longer meetings without creating an oppressive feel. The table combination is accentuated with a natural jute rug that is also a clever trick at home to create a dining or other area.
 

Freshening up with accents

A gallery wall is a great way to tell a story, in this case, an inspiring story of a growth experienced by this business. Linda suggests using frames of different sizes and incorporate also unexpected elements like framed mirrors and texts to personalize and to make the wall more interesting for the viewer. A tip from the Designer is to plan the layout first on the floor to find the best combination and then put it on the wall.
Adding plants and other interior accessories can make the whole look even more personal and warm. Here, the Designer has chosen some fresh plants that contrast with the straight lines of the frames, softening the impression.
