The IKEA Navigation sign tower was installed at the site where the IKEA store will be opened at the end of this summer. The 35 meter high sign tower revealed the exact location of the store on the edge of Riga (Biķeru Street 2, Dreiliņi, Stopiņu Municipality). The installing of the sign tower marks an important milestone towards the store opening.

“With raising of the sign tower, we are marking the exact location of IKEA store, where the first visitors will be greeted already at the end of summer. The goal of the sign tower is to serve visitors and drivers to find IKEA store from a distance, giving them time to prepare for the exit to the store. It is a strong communication tool for the inhabitants and it also helps to introduce the brand in a new market”, – says Inga Filipova, IKEA Latvia Store Manager.

According to her, the remaining important milestones towards the store opening will be the commissioning of the building, building and finalizing the exposition rooms as well as filling the racks with goods and preparing the IKEA restaurant for visitors.

The Navigation sign tower, bearing yellow IKEA name on characteristic blue background, will be best visible for visitors coming from Juglas and Biķernieku streets, but will also be seen from the neighboring areas.

The store manager also informed, that IKEA is currently looking to fill more than 100 jobs in sales, customer relations, food, logistics and other fields, mostly for part-time work.

“This year IKEA in Lithuania was announced the best Lithuanian retail employer of 2018. We are coming to Latvia with the same ambition, culture and benefits offering for Latvia’s employees. Anyone willing to join our team is most welcome to apply”, – says Inga Filipova.

First IKEA store in Riga will be 34.500 square meters, filled with a wide range of home furnishing products. The restaurant will offer a real taste of Sweden with specialties such as meatballs with lingonberries or salmon dishes. The store will be a family-friendly place with a supervised child playground, play areas throughout the store, baby care rooms and preferred family parking.
